Configuring Netscape Communicator 4.x E-mail
for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Launch Netscape. Click on "Edit" and select "Preferences".

On the left side of the screen, click on the + (plus sign) in front of "Mail & Groups".

This gives you more options to choose from.

Click on "Identity".

Fill in the blank under "Your Name" with the name that you want recipients to see.


Fill in the blanks under "Email Address" and "Reply-to Address" with your e-mail address, which is your e-mail name taken from the contract agreement followed by: @fastbytes.com - Remember to use lower case characters.


You can fill in the blank under "Organization" with your company name if you have one.


Next, click on "Mail Server" under "Mail & Groups" at the left.


Next to "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" enter:  mail.fastbytes.com

Next to "Outgoing mail server user name", enter your e-mail name from the contract Agreement.

If you have a server listed under "Incoming Mail Servers" that you want to save, click on "Add".

If you have one listed as "default" or some another server name that you no longer use, click "Edit".

The following window will open on top of this one.


Next to "Server Name" enter: mail.fastbytes.com
"Server Type" should be POP3 Server. You can change this by clicking on the arrow to the right.

Next to "User Name" enter your email name taken from the contract Agreement.

Click the box next to "Remember password" if you want Netscape Mail to remember your password. Then you don't have to enter your password every time you retrieve your e-mail.

Click "OK" on this screen. It will take you back to the previous screen.

Next, click on "Groups Server" under "Mail & Groups" at the left.

 

Under "Discussion groups (news) server" type in:  news.fastbytes.com.

Click "OK" and you're ready to send and receive e-mail and newsgroup messages.
