Microsoft Outlook e-mail set-up

Launch Microsoft Outlook located on your desk-top, task bar, or start menu.  Depending on your version of Outlook one of the two following sets of instructions will be yours.

Microsoft Outlook current version.

In the menu click on "Tools".   Click on "Accounts".

Microsoft Outlook with Microsoft Office 2000 or earlier.

In the menu click on "Tools".   Click on "Accounts".

Click the "Add" button and click "Mail".  A wizard will start to walk you through the account set up.

Disply Name is your name. Click "Next".

Type in your e-mail address in lower case, e.g. youremail@fastbytes.com.  Click "Next".

My incoming server is a POP3 server.  In the white spaces for incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers type mail.fastbytes.com.  Click "Next".

Your account name is the first half of your e-mail address.  Type in the password that you created with your account.  Make sure there is a check mark in the box next to "remember password".  Click "Next".  Click "Finish"

In the menu click on "Tools".   Click on "Accounts".

Click on the "mail.fastbytes.com" account.  Click the "Properties"button.  Click the "Servers"tab.   Put a check mark in the box next to "My server requires authentication".   Click "OK".  Click "Close".

In the menu click on "Tools".   Click on"Options".    Click on the "Security"tab.

Click in the circle next to "Internet Zone".   Remove the check mark from the box next to "Do not allow attachments to be saved or...".   Click "OK".

Close Outlook Express.  You are now ready to send and recieve e-mail.
